The Competitions and Operations Department of the South American Football Confederation has announced that the draw for the CONMEBOL Copa América Fútbol Playa 2025™ will take place on Monday, November 11. The draw will be broadcasted live on the Copa América YouTube channel.
The tournament will be held in Chile from February 22 to March 2, 2025, featuring the ten national teams from CONMEBOL's Member Associations.
Competition Format
The CONMEBOL Copa América Fútbol Playa 2025™ will be held in two phases: a preliminary phase (group stage) and a final phase (matches for 9th, 7th, and 5th places, semifinals, third-place match, and final). All phases will follow a single-round format. The preliminary phase will feature 10 teams divided into 2 groups of 5 teams each.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, while the remaining teams will compete for positions from 5th to 9th place (third-place teams compete for 5th place, fourth-place teams for 7th, and fifth-place teams for 9th).
The participating Member Associations (MAs) of the CONMEBOL Copa América Fútbol Playa 2025™ represent the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile (host), Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
Draw Methodology
The seeded teams for each group of the CONMEBOL Copa América Futbol Playa 2025™ are defined as follows:
Group A (Position A1): The Host Member Association (HMA) will be the seed of Group A (Chile).
Group B (Position B1): The current Champion Member Association will be the seed of Group B. If the Host Member Association is also the current champion, the runner-up from the previous tournament becomes the seed for Group B (current champion: Brazil).
- Pot 1 will contain the two highest-ranked Member Associations (based on the final standings of the previous edition), filling the second position in each group (runner-up: Argentina; third place: Colombia). The first drawn will be Position A2, and the second Position B2.
- Pot 2 will include the next two highest-ranked Member Associations (based on the previous tournament's results), filling the third position in each group (fourth place: Paraguay; fifth place: Uruguay). The first drawn will be Position A3, and the second Position B3.
- Pot 3 will feature the subsequent two highest-ranked Member Associations (based on the previous tournament results), filling the fourth position in each group (with sixth place occupied by the Host Member Association - Chile - the next ranked, Peru in seventh, and Bolivia in eighth). The first drawn will be Position A4, and the second Position B4.
- Pot 4 will include the two Member Associations ranked ninth and tenth, filling the fifth position in each group (ninth place: Ecuador; tenth place: Venezuela). The first drawn will be Position A5, and the second Position B5.
