  • Gregg Berhalter leads the United States against Antonio Carlos Zago and Bolivia

  • On June 23, Group C begins.

The hosts of this year's CONMEBOL Copa América™ open the tournament deep in the heart of Texas, taking on Bolivia at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on June 23. The United States and Gregg Berhalter will look to get off to a good start in the group stage, while Bolivia and Antonio Carlos Zago will want to spoil the party for the hosts.

The June friendlies leading up to the world's oldest national team tournament were a mixed bag for the United States. They suffered a 1-5 loss to Colombia, but quickly bounced back with a good 1-1 draw against Brazil. Coach Gregg Berhalter returns to take charge of his country's national team for the second time, and much of the same young core that reached the round of 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup is back for this summer's tournament, although with a little more experience. Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie are 25 years old and arrive at the CONMEBOL Copa América™, beginning the prime of their careers.

Meanwhile, Bolivia has a pair of young stars with Ramiro Vaca and Gabriel Villamil, aged 24 and 22 respectively. Antonio Carlos Zago's team worked hard in the friendlies prior to the 48th edition of the CONMEBOL Copa América™. Although they lost all three games against Mexico, Ecuador and Colombia, they remained competitive in each game. La Verde's last victory came in March during the FIFA Series 2024, when they defeated Andorra 1-0 thanks to a goal from Vaca.

The two teams have only met once in the history of the competition, with Bolivia winning 1-0 during the 1995 edition of the tournament.
