- James Rodríguez, Luis Díaz, Richard Ríos and Daniel Muñoz are the highlights of Los Cafeteros in this edition.
- The Colombians face Uruguay for a place in the Grand Final on July 14.
Colombia's great performance at CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™ continues with a great collective game, supported by great players and tactics well implemented by their coach, Néstor Lorenzo. No wonder, the team arrives for the Semifinals of this edition with its fans proud, with the best attack in the competition (11 goals scored) and one of the most efficient defenses in the United States.
But, of course, some names in the Colombian squad stand out above the rest: maestro James Rodríguez leads the competition in passes for goals and distributes the game like few others, supported by Richard Ríos by his side with great dedication. At the back, Daniel Muñoz is one of the best attacking players in this competition, even though he is a defender and, further forward, Luis Díaz continues to show the competence and skill already known for a long time.
Check out how the Colombian team has performed in the competition so far:
Luis Díaz
Díaz may seem to have been a little quieter than in his last appearance in CONMEBOL Copa América™, but make no mistake: the striker remains at the highest level, now in an even more solid and confident team. He already has two goals scored in this 2024 edition un 3 shots on goal, in addition to 5 decisive passes that turned into two great chances created for his teammates. Luis Díaz has become the third highest scorer in the tournament's history for Los Cafeteros (6 goals), and seems willing to reach and surpass the historic marks of Victor Aristizábal (8) and Arnoldo Iguarán (10) on the same stage.
Daniel Muñoz
The modern full-back is considered the player with good defensive values and the ability to support his teammates in attack. Daniel Muñoz, in this case, has fulfilled his duties impeccably and even going beyond: the Crystal Palace player scored two goals in the Group Stage emerging as a surprise element, and even collaborated with an assist for the best attack at this CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™. Defensively, the winger made 12 tackles and won 32 tackles, impressive numbers for someone who is so active in all phases of the game for 90 minutes.
James Rodríguez
Five assists (the record for a single edition, alongside Lionel Messi) in four matches, with two still to play in the tournament, and some of the most consistent performances by a single player at this CONMEBOL Copa América™: James Rodríguez has been the great exponent of Néstor Lorenzo's great Colombia, living up to the number 10 he wears on his back and the captain's armband he carries every match. The São Paulo player has 14 decisive passes (he is second in the category) in an impressive 87.3% pass accuracy (76.5% in long throws), and was able to score for the first time in the tournament with a penalty kick against Panama, in the Quarterfinals. A conductor, in the best sense of the word.
Richard Ríos
Another big name in the solid midfield that Colombia has at its disposal. The midfielder is an important piece in the balance of Lorenzo's team, already adding 14 successful dribbles (he leads the competition), 83% accuracy in passes, 26 ball recoveries won and 4 interceptions, being creative and combative in equal measure. With solid performances, the Palmeiras athlete was rewarded with his first goal in the CONMEBOL Copa América™ - a powerful shot from outside the area in the great victory over Panama in the Quarterfinals.
