Brazil in 2024


The year marked the beginning of Dorival Júnior’s tenure as head coach of the national team. Brazil played 14 matches in total, securing six wins, seven draws, and just one loss. They were the third-highest scoring team among the 10 CONMEBOL nations, with 22 goals, trailing only the finalists of the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™ (Argentina and Colombia, both with 33).

The Canarinha was part of Group D alongside Colombia, Paraguay, and Costa Rica. They earned a victory against Paraguay (4-1) and drew their other two matches to advance to the Quarterfinals.


In the knockout stage, they faced Uruguay. The match ended in a goalless draw and was decided by penalties. La Celeste won 4-2, bringing Dorival Júnior’s team’s campaign to an end.

Three wins, two draws, and one loss summarize the Verdeamarelha’s path in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. Brazil holds fifth place with 18 points, maintaining a spot in the direct qualification zone for the upcoming World Cup.
