- The Outside of Competition Anti-Doping Checks were conducted for the eight teams that qualified for the Quarterfinals of the CONMEBOL Copa América™.
- A total of 264 out-of-competition samples have been collected so far in the tournament, with the main purpose of protecting the health of the players and ensuring fair play.
As part of the anti-doping control plan, outside of competition checks have been carried out at CONMEBOL Copa América USA 2024™, according to the CONMEBOL Anti-Doping Commission, chaired by Dr. Osvaldo Pangrazio.
Throughout the tournament, 172 urine samples have been collected from the players of the 16 participating teams. In the Quarterfinals, 88 samples were obtained from the 8 teams that advanced to this final round, which will be held in the cities of Houston, Arlington, Glendale, and Las Vegas in the USA.
In total, 264 out-of-competition urine samples have been collected so far in the tournament.
The Anti-Doping Control Plan involves the application of intelligence to the anti-doping controls conducted by CONMEBOL, through the performance analysis of players competing in all competitions organized by the governing body of South American football and the tracking of the whereabouts of the teams over a certain period of time.
It is important to remember that, according to the CONMEBOL Anti-Doping Regulations, Outside-of-Competition Controls can be conducted at any time and place, with the main purpose of protecting the health of the players and ensuring fair play in all our competitions.
