Savarino, standout in the first leg of the CONMEBOL Libertadores Semifinals

The Venezuelan scored two goals for Botafogo in the first leg against Peñarol.

Jefferson Savarino was the standout player for Botafogo in the first leg of the CONMEBOL Libertadores Semifinals. The Venezuelan scored two goals (the first and the third) to help the Brazilian team secure a 5-0 victory over Peñarol.


The talented midfielder wasn't the only CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™ player in action. For Atlético Mineiro, who beat River 3-0, starters included Junior Alonso, Alan Franco, and Guilherme Arana. Eduardo Vargas was on the bench.


On the Argentine side, starters included Franco Armani, Germán Pezzella (both Copa América champions with Argentina), Paulo Díaz, and Miguel Borja. Adam Bareiro came on as a second-half substitute, while Claudio Acuña was sidelined due to injury.


The second-leg matches will be played on October 29 and 30.
