CONMEBOL Copa América™
  • There will be three coaching debuts.
  • Historic champions of the CONMEBOL Copa América™ return.

Between March 21 and 26, 2024, the South American teams will play friendlies in the FIFA window, with a primary focus on the CONMEBOL Copa América United States™, the main objective of the season, which will be played between June 20 and July 14.

The news, team by team:

Argentina: the reigning champion of the CONMEBOL Copa América™ will have three names on the list that could make their debut. They are Valentín Barco (Brighton, very good in the Pre-Olympics), Nicolás Valentini (Boca), and Valentín Carboni (Inter Milan).

Bolivia: the news in Zago's squad revolves around Rafinha (Brazilian naturalized) from Blooming and Robson Matheus, a young midfield hope currently playing for Always Ready.

Brazil: the Seleção will have the start of Dorival Junior's cycle, who chose to continue with the line of his predecessor and maintain the selection of previously called up players.

Chile: three key players from the Chilean Golden Generation, who already know what it's like to be champions of America, return to the team. They are Eduardo Vargas, Claudio Bravo, and Mauricio Isla. It will also be the presentation of Ricardo Gareca as coach.

Colombia: the return of Juan Fernando Quintero (in great form at Racing Club de Avellaneda) and the call-up of Ian Poveda (Sheffield Wednesday; debuted in the December tour with the national team) are the highlights in Néstor Lorenzo's squad.

Ecuador: two highly promising youngsters, Allen Obando (17 years old) and Alan Minda (20), received their first call-up.

Paraguay: the team coached by Daniel Garnero, which will play only one friendly in this FIFA window, will have the returns of Roberto Jr. Fernández (Botafogo goalkeeper) and Ángel Romero (Corinthians forward).

Peru: for Jorge Fossatti's debut as coach of La Bicolor, the call-up of Oliver Sonne stands out as a novelty, a Danish defender naturalized Peruvian playing for Silkeborg IF.

Venezuela: the team coached by Fernando Batista will have a significant injection from the team that played in the Pre-Olympics earlier in the year. Six players from that team earned their call-up: Telasco Segovia, Jovanny Bolívar, Matías Lacava, Carlos Vivas, Renné Rivas, and Bryant Ortega.

Uruguay: Marcelo Bielsa's squad adds new faces, as they will have five players who could debut in this FIFA window. Two from the local scene: Luciano Rodríguez (Liverpool, top scorer of the Pre-Olympics) and Randall Rodriguez (Peñarol goalkeeper); and from abroad: Nicolás Marichal (Dynamo Moscow), Nicolás Fonseca (River Plate), and Ignacio Laquintana (Bragantino).
