The young stars who could play in their first CONMEBOL Copa América™

Páez, Reyna, Davies, Endrick, Rodrygo, Garnacho, Núñez and Giménez could play their first Copa América in 2024.

  • Kendry Páez, Gio Reyna, Alphonso Davies, Endrick, Rodrygo, Alejandro Garnacho, Darwin Núñez and Santi Giménez were included in their national team squads.

  • The competition starts on June 20 and ends on July 14.




This Saturday the players of the 16 participating teams in CONMEBOL Copa América United States 2024™ were confirmed. Some interesting names stand out on the lists including some young stars who will have the opportunity to play in the world's oldest national team tournament for the first time.

Kendry Páez, who is still only 17 years old and a year away from his move to English giants Chelsea, is one of the brightest young talents in all of South America. The Ecuadorian already has 8 international caps with his national team and will look to increase that number during this year's tournament.

Gio Reyna: The son of Claudio Reyna (former player for the United States national team), Gio has built an impressive career. At the age of 21, he has already completed five seasons in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund and got his first taste of Premier League football last season while on loan at Nottingham Forest. Now he will be a key player for the tournament hosts.

Alphonso Davies: Widely regarded as one of North America's most talented players, the 23-year-old defender is eager to show the world what he can do when he pulls on the jersey of his national team. The public already knows what he can do when he plays for European giant Bayern Munich, with whom he has spent the last 6 seasons.

Endrick: The great young Brazilian hope has already been the subject of comparisons with the best player in the history of his country, Pelé. Coming from Palmeiras, the youngster will join Real Madrid this summer, but will first have the opportunity to play in CONMEBOL Copa América™ for the first time at just 17 years old.

Rodrygo: He has just won the Champions League final with Real Madrid and will now have the opportunity to participate in his first CONMEBOL Copa América™. The 23-year-old winger has already played in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and is now hoping to try and help his country win its 10th continental trophy.


Alejandro Garnacho, Argentina

Alejandro Garnacho: The Manchester United winger has made a big impression with the FIFA World Cup 2022 and Copa América 2021™ champions Argentina. He had an outstanding season in the Premier League and is part of the new generation that appears in Scaloni's squad. He will turn 20 during the tournament.

Darwin Núñez: arrives at the CONMEBOL Copa América™ in excellent shape. The Liverpool striker, who will turn 25 during the tournament, scored a hat-trick against Mexico in his country's final pre-season game before the tournament, and coach Marcelo Bielsa hopes Núñez can maintain his excellent goalscoring form once the tournament begins. He missed the previous edition due to injury.

Santiago Gimenez: One of Mexico's biggest hopes at the moment is the young striker from Feyenoord of the Netherlands, with whom he scored 23 goals in the Dutch league last season. The 23-year-old will now look to transfer his fantastic club form to his national team.
